What is AWS Global Accelerator?

AWS Global Accelerator is a networking service offered by Amazon Web Services (AWS) that improves the availability, performance, and security of public applications. It provides two global static public IPs that serve as fixed entry points to application endpoints, such as load balancers and EC2 instances.

With AWS Global Accelerator, end users are connected to load balancers in up to 10 regions within the AWS global network. This allows for efficient routing and faster failover across regions, ensuring optimal performance for global traffic management. Additionally, API workloads can be accelerated by up to 60% by leveraging TCP termination at the edge.

The service also offers the benefit of global static IPs, simplifying allowlisting in enterprise firewalling and IoT use cases. Moreover, it enables low-latency gaming and media workloads by utilizing custom routing to direct traffic to a fleet of EC2 instances.

Several notable customers, including The Trade Desk, Skyscanner, Lever, and JoyCity, have successfully leveraged AWS Global Accelerator to enhance their applications' performance, reduce network issues, and improve stability.
